Through Resolution no. 261/2026, the Regional Government Council approved the Strategic Guidelines for the Integrated Rural Fire Management System of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (SGIFR-RAM).
This document, provided for in Regional Legislative Decree no. 4/2026/M, constitutes the fundamental pillar for the operationalization of the system, serving as a basis for the preparation of the Regional Action Program (PRA) and the Technical Regulation. The measure aims to strengthen the effectiveness of prevention mechanisms, fuel management, and institutional coordination in the Madeiran rural area.
The Regional Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Oceano Azul Foundation and the National Geographic Society to assess and strengthen the Marine Protected Areas Network.
