About MadInfo
JORAM — the Official Journal of the Autonomous Region of Madeira — is where the regional government publishes its decisions: new regulations, appointments, public contracts, tax changes, and more. These decisions directly affect everyone who lives and works in Madeira.
The problem? JORAM is published as dense legal PDFs, only in Portuguese. For most people, it is practically inaccessible.
Why MadInfo
Madeira is home to a diverse community. Thousands of foreign residents — from the UK, Germany, France, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, and beyond — have built their lives here. Many are entrepreneurs, retirees, or remote workers who need to stay informed about government decisions affecting their taxes, permits, properties, and businesses.
But even for native Madeirans, the official texts are often difficult to understand. Legal jargon creates a barrier that should not exist between citizens and the decisions that affect them.
MadInfo exists to remove those barriers. We transform official JORAM publications into clear, accessible articles translated into six languages. Regardless of your native language or level of education — you have the right to understand the decisions that affect your life.
How it works
Every working day, our system automatically processes new JORAM publications. Each decree, resolution, and regulation is turned into an easy-to-read article, organised by topic, and translated into Portuguese, English, German, French, Spanish, and Polish.
The result is a portal where anyone can search and find the government decisions that matter to them — in plain language and in their own language.
What MadInfo is not
MadInfo is an independent project. We are not affiliated with the Regional Government of Madeira or any official body. Our summaries are created to aid understanding but do not replace official documents. For legal purposes, always refer to the original JORAM publication.
