Regional Government relaxes support rules for 12 agricultural interventions under PEPAC

Ordinance no. 174/2026 introduces significant changes to the application regime for 12 interventions under Axis F of Rural Development, within the scope of the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (PEPAC Portugal). The objective is to adjust the regimes to real implementation needs and to provide flexibility for increasing the area eligible for support.

The main changes focus on the possibility for beneficiaries to increase the support area by up to 25%, with a maximum limit of 1 hectare, without implying a change to the commitment period. The measures covered are:

  • F.8.1: Support for the Integrated Production regime (Ordinance no. 502/2023)
  • F.8.2: Maintenance of land retaining walls (Ordinance no. 504/2023)
  • F.8.3: Support for Organic Production (Ordinance no. 509/2023)
  • F.8.4: Preservation of fresh fruit orchards and traditional vineyards (Ordinance no. 513/2023)
  • F.8.5: Control of invasive species (Ordinance no. 520/2023)
  • F.8.6: Maintenance of dry stone walls in Porto Santo (Ordinance no. 521/2023)
  • F.8.7: Maintenance of traditional viticultural structures (Ordinance no. 530/2023)
  • F.8.8: Agro-environmental and climate commitments (Ordinance no. 531/2023)
  • F6.1: Maintenance of agricultural activity in disadvantaged areas - Madeira Island (Ordinance no. 499/2023)
  • F6.2: Maintenance of agricultural activity in disadvantaged areas - Porto Santo Island (Ordinance no. 500/2023)
  • F7.1: Natura 2000 and Water Framework Directive payments (Ordinance no. 501/2023)
  • F8.10: Premium for maintenance and loss of income from forestry investments (Ordinance no. 532/2023)

These changes enter into force on the day following their publication and take effect on January 1, 2026.
